      Experience:   As a founder and principal of PKA, Mr. Pickett is involved in all aspects of the firm’s operation, and has primary responsibility for the firm's educational facility projects.  His responsibilities include the supervision of the firm’s engineers and technicians; preparation of engineering proposals; budgeting and scheduling of projects; development of design criteria; performance of structural systems studies and evaluations; preparation of structural designs, drawings and specifications; review of drawings and design calculations; preparation of construction cost estimates; performance of field inspections; and financial management of the company. He has particular expertise in the design of post-tensioned concrete structures, having designed over 3 million square feet of post-tensioned concrete, design and construction of industrial concrete floor slabs, tilt-up concrete structures and the design-build project delivery method.

    Notable projects include:

    Improvements to the A.C. Bible, Jr. Memorial Stadium for the Leander ISD.

    Vandegrift High School for the Leander ISD.

    Auditorium addition for Vista Ridge High School for the Leander ISD.

    Rouse High School for the Leander Independent School District.

    Video scoreboard and ribbon board displays for Kyle Field at Texas A&M University.

    Phase III Expansion of Kyle Field at Texas A&M University, which included seating decks and ramping systems for the third decks at the east and west sides of Kyle Field, four levels of physical education facilities at the east side, locker rooms, elevator towers and concession areas. Mr. Pickett was the lead structural design engineer.

    Salado High School for the Salado Independent School District

    Wiley Middle School for the Leander Independent School District.

    Design of the precast concrete frames and elements for the Round Rock ISD Football Stadium Complex. Project required the design and detailing of the precast concrete raker beams, columns, wall panels and stairs for a 10,000 seat, state-of-the-art high school football stadium.

    Terminal C Phases I and II at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Project entailed three levels of overhead parking with access via spiral ramps, north and south flight station concourses, pedestrian bridges connecting the terminal to the concourses, vehicular drop-off ramp, ticketing and baggage claim levels, and underground transportation tunnels. The structures consisted primarily of cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete. Mr. Pickett was the structural design engineer and structural project manager.

    William P. Hobby Parking Garage, a 3,750 car, four-level, cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete parking structure in Houston.

    Applied Materials Building 30 in Austin, a 250,000 square foot office and manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas.

    DuPont Photomask Corporate Headquarters building in Round Rock, Texas.

    IBM Building 064 Mezzanine in Austin. Project consisted of the addition of a 30,000 square foot office mezzanine inside an existing warehouse not originally designed to accommodate such an expansion. Project was designed and constructed with no disruption of the shipping, receiving or warehouse operations.

    Code review and analysis for a major electronics panel board manufacturing facility. Analysis was based on a Uniform Building Code H6 occupancy classification to determine the number and location of exits necessary to meet the H6 emergency egress requirements.

    Design of five overhead craneway systems for a pipe threading plant in Westwego, Louisiana. Cranes included a 1,500 foot craneway for two 25 ton cranes with 174 foot bridge spans; a 1,400 foot craneway for two 25 ton cranes with 134 foot bridge spans; a 680 foot craneway for a single 25 ton crane with a 71 foot bridge span; a 485 foot craneway for three 10 ton cranes with 59 foot bridge spans; and a 395 foot craneway for three 10 ton cranes with 125 foot bridge spans.

    AeroTerm air cargo handling facility, Phase I and II, at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Project consisted of a one-story building of 111,000 square feet to house receiving, warehousing and distribution of air freight.

    St. Anthony Catholic Church Sanctuary in Kyle, Texas.

    Hill Country Bible Church Classroom Addition in Austin, Texas. Project included a four-story classroom building enclosing 114,000 square feet.

    Holy Family Catholic Church School, Phase I in Round Rock, Texas. Project consisted of a multi-building campus with classroom buildings and a gymnasium for pre-school, elementary and middle school students.

    Trauma Treatment Center for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, a 130,000 square foot, three-story hospital for the treatment of trauma patients.

    Howard Lane Pump Station for the City of Austin. Project consisted of the structural design for a two-level, 100,000 GPM pumping facility for north Austin.

    Design of the Sail and Ski boat dealership in Austin, Texas.

    Design of numerous post-tensioned concrete tennis courts for the Katy, Conroe, Lamar Consolidated and other greater Houston area school districts.

    The Four Points Regional Detention Pond Outlet Structure, a 30 foot tall dam and weir structure in Austin.
