Completed - 2002
Project consists of a two-story, 70,000 square foot primary school building. Building houses classrooms, offices, cafetorium, gymnasium, library and restrooms. Roof framing consists of a standing seam metal roof supported by cold-formed light gage steel purlins and structural steel beams and columns. 2nd floor framing consists of composite concrete and steel beams and girders. Deep longspan steel joists spanning 60 feet to load-bearing, tilt-up concrete wall panels frame the cafetorium. The gymnasium is framed with special gable and hip joist girders and perimeter load-bearing concrete tilt-up wall panels. The building foundation consists of a concrete ground-supported slab with perimeter grade beams and drilled, straight sided piers to limestone at columns. Exterior cladding consists of a combination of painted concrete tilt-up panels, EIFS and split-faced concrete masonry. Project Architect - Fields & Associates
General Contractor - American Constructors, LP
Completed - 2004
Project consists of a split-level, 173,000 square foot middle school. The 2-story classroom wing consists of a composite steel framed superstructure, with interior steel beams and columns and exterior load-bearing tilt-up concrete wall panels. Roofing is pitched standing seam metal.
The administration wing is a one-story, high roof structure housing offices, a library, two gyms, weight room, locker rooms, band hall, choir room, theater arts and dance classrooms and a kitchen and cafeteria with stage. Pitched Tectum deck roofs, supported by steel framing and tilt-up wall panels, are used at the gyms. Remainder of roof is low-sloped steel framed structure. Main entry canopy consist of arched steel trusses. Foundations consist of ground-supported slabs with perimeter grade beams and drilled piers at columns. Due to the sloping sites, retaining walls up to 15 feet in height were required. Project Architect - Fields & Associates
